The Sangh Parivar is making efforts to connect the Christian community. Now for the first time, Union Minister of State for Minority Affairs John Barla will host the Christmas dinner at Meghalaya House on Friday. Church heads from Jammu-Kashmir to Kerala will participate in this program of the RSS-affiliated National Christian Forum. Senior RSS leader Indresh Kumar is also likely to attend the program.

This will be the first time that Church heads of Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh are also being invited by Rashtriya Christian Manch, where incidents of attacks on pastors, churches, and some Christian institutions have come to the fore for some time.

RSS advice- Don't be a part of vote bank politics

BJP leaders believe that the Church and Church heads should also remain politically neutral. The Christian community also says that it is not right to keep its distance from RSS and BJP after Prime Minister Narendra Modi's big victory for the second time. The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh Parivar has told the church heads not to become a part of vote bank politics.

What steps has the RSS taken in this direction so far?

Jammu-Kashmir... A big bet inviting Christian representatives of Jammu-Kashmir have been invited. Considering the Muslim majority population in Kashmir, it is also being considered a big political bet of RSS. According to the 2011 census data, there are about 36 thousand Christians in the population of about 1.25 crore in Jammu and Kashmir.

Kerala... 18% Christian voters can become a game changer for BJP About 18% of Kerala's population of 3.5 crores are Christian voters. BJP is trying to increase its penetration in this state. In the 2021 assembly elections, the BJP got 11.3 percent votes here. Whereas in the 2016 assembly elections, the party got 10.53 percent votes.

North-East... Efforts to help 70 percent of Christian voters in 3 states Meghalaya, Nagaland, and Mizoram in the Northeast have a 70% Christian population. In these states, the BJP is trying to form the government on its own. Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently made a special mention of the proposed visit of Christian leader Pope Francis to India in his speech at the congregations in the Northeast.
