Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said the supply of US advanced rocket systems to Ukraine would increase the risk of being dragged into a third-country conflict. Meanwhile, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said on Wednesday that 60 to 100 Ukrainian soldiers are dying in the war every day, while more than 500 soldiers are being injured. Football legend Pele appeals to Putin to stop the war

 

Brazilian football legend Pele on Wednesday made a public appeal to Russian President Vladimir Putin to stop the war. He made this appeal minutes before Ukraine's football team played in a World Cup qualifying match.

 

Pele said in an Instagram post – I want to use today's match for an appeal. No argument can justify violence. War is not right, it will bring nothing but pain, fear, terror, and suffering. Pele and Putin last met in 2017 during the Confederations Cup in Moscow. Putin has described Pele as one of his favorite players.

 

Action on 2 Russian leaders who appealed to stop the war

 

Two Russian lawmakers have been fired from the Communist Party for appealing to President Vladimir Putin to end the war in Ukraine. The names of these MPs are Leonid Vasukevich and Gennady Shulga. Both the MPs have been termed as anti-nationals. Vasukevich appealed to Putin to stop the war and withdraw the troops.

 

At the same time, Shulga had said that if Russia does not stop the military operation, then the number of orphans in the country will increase. The two leaders said this during a meeting of the Legislative Assembly of the Primorsky Region in eastern Russia last Friday. Following his appeal, several lawmakers and the region's governor, Oleg Kozhemyako, tried to silence him.

 

Kozhemyako accused Vasukevich of tarnishing the reputation of the Russian Army.

 

The US will give a dangerous Himars missile system to Ukraine: target up to 80 km

 

The US has announced the supply of state-of-the-art High Mobility Artillery Rocket System (HIMARS) to Ukraine against Russia. US President Joe Biden says HIMARS is most effective in challenging Russian attacks in the Donbas in eastern Ukraine. Advanced Rocket System HIMARS Satellite Guided Missile gives accurate strikes up to 80 km.

 

Currently, Ukraine and Russia use the Multiple Launch Rocket System (MLRS). HIMARS is better than MLRS in terms of range and accuracy. It can also fire multiple missiles at a time. The US will provide the M142 HIMARS rocket system. It is an advanced version of the truck-mounted MLRS of 1970. It can fire 6 missiles of 227 mm.

 

4 soldiers are required to operate HIMARS. Also, it can fire a missile in less than 2 minutes, whereas the MLRS currently with Ukraine takes 5 minutes.
