Chennai Super Kings (CSK) had informed before their last league match of the 2021 season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) that England all-rounder Sam Curran will not be able to play further in the tournament due to injury. Now CSK has also announced which player has been included in the team as a replacement for Sam Curran for the rest of the season. Sam Curran's replacement has been confirmed in the official statement issued by IPL.

Chennai Super Kings have signed Caribbean cricketer Dominic Drakes as a replacement for Sam Curran for the remainder of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 season. Dominic Drakes is an uncapped all-rounder from West Indies, who has featured in one first-class, 25 List A matches, and 19 T20Is. He is a left-handed batsman and a left-arm medium-pace bowler. He has proved himself on many occasions and that is why he has got a place in the CSK team.

Let us tell you that Caribbean all-rounder Dwayne Bravo may have played an important role in linking Dominic Drakes with Chennai Super Kings because under the captaincy of Bravo played for St Kitts and Nevis Patriots in the Caribbean Premier League i.e. CPL and in the final of CPL 2021. He took one wicket and scored 48 runs in 24 balls with the help of 3 fours and 3 sixes. He was the player of the match in the final of the CPL.

Chennai Super Kings will take on Punjab Kings in their last league game of IPL 2021 at the Dubai International Stadium today i.e. on 7 October. However, it is not yet confirmed by CSK as to when he will be able to join the team. There is little hope that he will be able to play for Chennai for the rest of the season, as Chennai has to enter the qualifier match after the last league match.
