A joint team of the State Archaeological Directorate and Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) on Thursday inspected the Bhadreshwar shrine and two ancient wells and took their samples. Various books mention 68 shrines and 19 wells in Sambhal. All these are symbols of the faith of Hindus. Many of these shrines and wells have disappeared while some are under the ASI. The district administration has decided to develop all the historical sites. The cleaning of Prithviraj Chauhan's stepwell is also to be started soon.
The digging of the stepwell in Chandausi continued for the sixth day. At the same time, at the request of the local people, the Municipal Council got the Mrityu Koop (Mrityunjay Koop) excavated near the Sarathal police post. After finding a temple closed for 46 years in Khaggu Sarai, DM Dr. Rajendra Pansia has decided to prepare a plan to preserve the historical sites. Five wells are being excavated.
The DM has asked the State Archaeological Directorate and ASI to prepare a report about the antiquity of the historical sites. For this, ASI team visited on 19 December and the Directorate team on 20 and 21 December. Now, the joint team of both is active from 25 December. Two experts are from ASI in this four-member team. Some wall-like thing was seen in Hauz Bhadesarai pond a few days ago. When its water was drained, an ancient wall was found. According to mythological beliefs, this is the wall of Bhadreshwar Tirtha.
On the other hand, the joint team also reached Hauz Bhadesarai on Thursday. The team studied the walls of the Tirtha in-depth and measured to assess the strength of the structure. Apart from this, samples were also collected from the wall. After this, the team reached the ancient Chaturmukh well located at Alam Sarai. The team assessed the structure of the well, the material used in its construction, and its condition. Apart from this, Ashok Koop was also inspected in Hallu Sarai.
Here, near Prithviraj Chauhan's stepwell, a mound equal to Chor Kuan was also excavated. It was told that there is a well there. But, after a lot of digging, the work was stopped when the well was not found. The DM said that Prithviraj Chauhan has been associated with Sambhal. All the monuments related to him will also be renovated. After the warning of the district administration, people have started removing encroachments around the fort in Ferozepur on their own.
The municipality got the Mrityu Koop dug which was closed for years.
The Mrityu Koop, one of the 19 wells, was buried under soil. Dr. Manibhushan Tiwari, Executive Officer of the Municipal Council, said that the purpose of this campaign is to revive the cultural heritage. The old wells are not only being considered a part of history, but a plan is also being prepared to make them useful again. It is claimed that one gets all the Siddhis by bathing here and worshipping Lord Shiva.
