Sandeshkhali: After the arrest of Sandeshkhali's main accused Shahjahan, local people celebrated, and distributed sweets.

Locals in trouble-hit Sandeshkhali in West Bengal's North 24 Parganas district on Thursday celebrated the arrest of accused TMC leader Shahjahan Shaikh. Shahjahan was accused of harrasing exploiting women and usurping land. Everyone distributed a lot of sweets in the area.

 

Local people, who had been protesting in the Sandeshkhali area for the last few days, came to the streets distributed a lot of sweets, and started dancing with joy. Everyone celebrated the arrest of Shajahan who was absconding for the last 55 days.

 

 

What do the locals say

A local said, 'We are very happy that he has finally been arrested. We just hope that he is put behind bars and that he never comes back to this area. He has ruined the lives of many people in the area. Similarly, a woman also expressed her sentiments and said, 'We hope that his other associates will also be put behind bars.'

 

Sandeshkhali is about 100 kilometers from Kolkata. This area is situated on the banks of the river, situated on the border of Sundarban. Protests were going on here for more than a month against Shajahan Shaikh and his supporters over allegations of harrasing exploitation and land grabbing.

 

Unrest had spread in the area

Let us tell you that an atmosphere of unrest had arisen in the area after the allegations of harrasing harassment against Shahjahan and his supporters for occupying the land and harrasing assaulting a local TMC leader to escape from the authorities.

 

The accused Shazhan Shaikh was arrested on Thursday morning from a house in Minakhan, which is about 30 km from Sandeshkhali island. Police said that Sheikh was hiding in the house with some associates.
