Apart from him, 61 runs came off the bat of Alex Carey and the Kangaroo team was all out for 264 runs in 49.3 overs. In response, Team India achieved the target in 48.1 overs and won by 4 wickets to enter the final of the Champions Trophy 2025.

 

After the defeat in the match, Steve Smith has retired from ODI cricket. 35-year-old Steve played a total of 170 matches in ODIs and scored 5800 runs. During this, his average was 43, in which he scored 12 centuries and 35 half-centuries. He finished as the 12th-highest run scorer for Australia in ODI career.

 

In the year 2016, Steve scored the highest score of his career (164 runs) against New Zealand. When he made his debut, he did it as a leg-spinning all-rounder and he took 28 wickets in ODIs and took a total of 90 catches.

He said, "Now is a great opportunity for people to start preparing for the 2027 World Cup, so it feels like the right time to make way. Test cricket remains a priority and I'm really looking forward to the World Test Championship final and then England on home ground. I think I still have a lot to contribute on that stage."
