New Delhi, Jan 7 (IANS) Nobel laureate Kailash Satyarthi Wednesday presented his Nobel Peace Prize to President Pranab Mukherjee, an official statement said, adding that the medal would be displayed in the Rashtrapati Bhavan Museum.
Speaking on the occasion, Mukherjee said he was "very happy" that Sathyarthi received the prize. He said the "medal will soon be kept on display in the Rashtrapati Bhavan Museum".
The president said: "This was an unusual gesture because most former winners of the Nobel Prize from India had kept their awards in their respective institutions, including Rabindra Nath Tagore whose medal was housed in Viswa Bharati at Santiniketan."
The president commended Satyarthi for the excellent work he was doing in the field of child rights.
