The Election Commission has released the 2002 voter list of 293 assembly constituencies of 24 districts of West Bengal amid the SIR controversy. Only the list of one constituency, Kulpi of South 24 Parganas district, was not released. The Commission has indicated that if the final 2002 list is not found, then the draft voter list of 2003 will be taken as the basis.
Earlier, the list of 103 seats was released, but the list of four seats was missing.
Earlier, on August 5, the Commission had released the 2002 voter list of 103 assembly constituencies out of 294. At that time, the list of four constituencies was not available, which included Kulpi of South 24 Parganas, and Murarai, Rampurhat, and Rajnagar of Birbhum district. After this, the Commission had instructed the concerned District Magistrates to find the list immediately. The lists of all three assembly constituencies of Birbhum were finally found. The Commission has indicated that if the 2002 list is not available, the 2003 draft voter list will be taken as the basis.
