New Delhi, Jan 5 (IANS) The Supreme Court Monday declined to interfere with the schedule for panchayat elections in Rajasthan.
The schedule is being held under the amended provisions that specify educational qualifications for the gram sarpanch and the membership of the other panchayat and zilla samiti bodies.
The apex court bench headed by Chief Justice H.L. Dattu told the petitioners to approach the Rajasthan High Court to agitate their challenge to the Dec 24 Ordinance, providing for educational qualifications for becoming the gram panchayat sarpanch (chief), and members of panchayat and zilla samitis.
