Defeat or victory, Bedi assures crime-free, clean Krishna Nagar

New Delhi, Feb 9 (IANS) A day before the Delhi assembly poll results, BJP's chief ministerial candidate Kiran Bedi Monday said regardless of her win or loss, she would serve the people of her constituency as a "mother" to ensure a "crime-free and "clean" Krishna Nagar.

"My first mission will be to ensure a clean Krishna Nagar... akin to New Delhi and south Delhi. I will also promote community policing to curb crime," Bedi said at Abhaar Sabha, a meeting she had called to thank Bharatiya Janata Party workers on the eve of the poll results.

Addressing the Sabha at a mall in her constituency Krishna Nagar, Bedi assured party workers that she would work as hard as Harsh Vardhan - who held the constituency for five terms before joining the union cabinet in May 2014 - and be like a mother to the people.

Referring to Harsh Vardhan, who is a doctor by profession, Bedi said "a mother's heart is different from a doctor's heart", and that she, as a mother herself, would understand the needs of the people better.

She expressed gratitude to the BJP workers for their support and round-the-clock hard work and asked them to share their good practices that helped them run the campaign.

"I hope the BJP forms a government in Delhi. Regardless of my victory, I want the BJP to win," she said.

The BJP also distributed a comic book "Kiran Bedi kaise bani top cop?" (How did Kiran Bedi become a top cop?) that narrated the journey of her life through a pictorial depiction. The booklet was given for the BJP workers' children to learn from her life.
