To ensure transparency and ease of district election operations, District Magistrate Santosh Kumar Sharma is continuously in direct contact with voters. The District Magistrate informed that the Election Commission has extended the deadline for the SIR process from December 4th to December 11th, so that no voter is left out of this important process. In this regard, his direct public interaction continued for the fourth consecutive day, without a holiday, in the Collectorate auditorium on Sunday to listen to voters' concerns.
As usual, the District Magistrate participated in the telephonic public hearing from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM on Sunday. A total of 23 voters from all five assembly constituencies of the district were called to express their concerns. Their complaints included difficulties filling out the SIR form online, incorrect names being listed on the voter list, confusion regarding the process for women who have married from Nepal, BLOs not providing receipts, a lack of counting forms, and guidance for new voters on how to fill out the form.
The District Magistrate listened to each call carefully, providing voters with a clear explanation of the SIR process and promptly resolving their concerns. He directed all concerned EROs to ensure that complaints received are resolved within 24 hours.
The District Magistrate also informed that the 2003 voter list has been made available to all BLOs and their supporting staff. Voters can obtain a copy by contacting them, and the option to download the voter list is also available from the Election Commission's website.
He stated that the SIR process is progressing rapidly in the district, and approximately 70 percent of the work has been completed so far. He commended the hard work of BLOs and supporting staff working at the ground level and assured that the 100 percent target will be achieved within the extended timeframe.
