The central government is going to up-skill 75 thousand people of NDMC of Delhi. Skill India will train people in the age group of 18 to 45, especially the personnel in construction, electrical and plumbing, etc. The trainees will also get the added benefit of accident insurance for two years during the training.
The National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC), a department under the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE), in collaboration with the New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC), has decided to train 75,000 people in the age group of 18-45 years.
For this, a program or project called Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) has been started. Training these people will be funded by NDMC and Sankalp, a World Bank project. The objective of this project is to certify to increase their relevance in the changing job market and encourage them to contribute to nation-building.
In the first phase, the work of training 25 thousand personnel has started. They will be given various types of training in construction, electrical, plumbing, pottery, etc. This will not only expose them to digital literacy and entrepreneurial opportunities but will also upgrade them in technical skills. An additional benefit of accident insurance for two years will also be provided to the trainees during the training.
The Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)/upskilling program will be implemented in three phases through Sector Skill Councils (SSCs) and their empaneled training providers. Also, there will be two ways of implementation. RPL through campus, under which industrial and traditional will be targeted.
Ved Mani Tiwari, Chief Operating Officer, and Officiating CEO, NSDC said, “We are committed to standardizing skills based on recognition and certification and making them a part of the organized sector.
