The death of former Karnataka Chief Minister SM Krishna has caused a wave of mourning in the political world. Prime Minister Narendra Modi condoled the death of SM Krishna and said that he was an extraordinary leader, who was respected by people from all walks of life. SM Krishna died at his residence in Bangalore on Tuesday morning. The 92-year-old senior leader was ill for a long time.

Modi said in a post on X, "SM Krishna Ji was an extraordinary leader, who was admired by people from all walks of life. He always worked tirelessly to improve the lives of others. He is greatly remembered for his tenure as the Chief Minister of Karnataka, especially for the special attention he gave to infrastructure development. Shri SM Krishna ji was also an avid reader and thinker.''
Modi said that he had many opportunities to interact with Krishna over the years and he will always cherish those meetings. He said, "I am deeply saddened by the demise of Krishna. My condolences to his family and fans. Om Shanti."
External Affairs Minister Jaishankar also remembered.
External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar also expressed grief over the demise of Krishna. Sharing a photo of himself with him, Jaishankar recalled many meetings he had during his tenure as Foreign Minister.
Jaishankar wrote in a post on X, "Deeply saddened by the demise of former External Affairs Minister SM Krishna. Krishna's contribution to the development of Karnataka and as Foreign Minister will always be remembered. My condolences to his family. Om Shanti."

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi paid tribute to SM Krishna, saying that his works contributed tremendously to the development of Karnataka and played an important role in turning Bengaluru into a technology hub. Rahul said, "Deeply saddened by the news of the demise of SM Krishna ji. My condolences to his family and loved ones in this difficult time."
Congress general secretary and MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra said that SM Krishna's contribution shaped the progress of Karnataka and put Bengaluru on the global map. May his soul rest in peace.
Congress leader Jairam Ramesh said, "I have many memories of my long association with former Union Minister and former Chief Minister of Karnataka SM Krishna. His tenure as Chief Minister was very impressive and he contributed greatly to the development of information technology, biotechnology, and other industries in the state."
The Congress leader said that Krishna's budget speech in March 2000 was path-breaking in many ways. He said, "He came to Congress from the socialist stream and held a special place in the party for almost half a century. He was equally involved in tennis as he was in politics. Ramesh said, "When I read the news of Krishna's demise this morning, I remembered him as a true gentleman who overcame the difficulties of public life with great aplomb."
