Many children are good at sports as well as in studies. Sreeshankar was also one of them. Both his parents have been players, so he always had a natural talent for the game. Apart from this, he was also excellent in his studies, and in 2017 he also cleared the entrance exam of MBBS. Now it was too late to take admission, but they did not do so. Sreeshankar shared the matter of making a career in sports with the family members. It was a difficult decision, but he got permission from home, but with one condition. Shankar had told Dainik Bhaskar in an interview a few days ago that he had taken admission in engineering, but because of this, he was not able to focus on the game. He tried to train during the day and study at night. It went on like this for a few days but it was getting difficult to sustain it. Then he decided to leave engineering studies as well.

Shankar had told Bhaskar that the teacher had objected to his decision not to take admission to medical. He believed that Shankar should do MBBS, as not everyone can clear this exam, but he could not continue with the game.

 

Both parents are sportsmen

 

Murali Shankar's parents are both sportspersons. Father S. Murali has been an international triple jumper, while mother KS Bijmol has been an 800m runner. They have both represented the country at the South Asian Games and other international athletics events. Other members of the household also took part in sports. Shankar also used to go to the ground with his parents in his childhood. Gradually his interest shifted toward athletics. Initially, he participated in the sprint event.

When Sreeshankar was in the fourth class, he won medals at the state level in 100 and 50 meters, but after coming to the tenth class, he started long-jumping at the behest of his father. His father believed that his jump was much better. As a child, his father did not allow him to jump because he was afraid that he might get injured.
