Sri Lanka reached Super-12 of T20 World Cup: the Netherlands lost by 16 runs, now eyes on Namibia-UAE match

After losing the first match in the T20 World Cup qualifiers, Sri Lanka made a great comeback. They beat the Netherlands by 16 runs. With this win, the 2014 champions entered the Super-12 of the Sri Lankan team. Batting first, Sri Lanka scored 162 runs. The Netherlands team, chasing the target of 163 runs, could only manage 146 runs for nine wickets in the stipulated 20 overs.

Opener Kusal Mendis was dismissed for 79 runs in 44 balls at a strike rate of 179.54. Mendis hit 5 fours and 5 sixes. The lead dealt a fourth blow to the Lankan team. He has got 2 wickets. This is Mendis' 9th T20 International fifty. He completed his half-century with a six.

 

Half-century partnership between Aslanka-Mendis

The partnership between wicket-keeper batsman Kusal Mendis and Charit Aslanka was crucial in Sri Lanka's score. There was a partnership of 59 runs for the third wicket between the two. Here Aslanka is out. Earlier, the team had lost the second wicket with a score of 36.

 

Van Meeckeren took two consecutive wickets

Fast bowler Van Meeckeren has bowled accurately. He gave Sri Lanka two blows in the 7th over. Meeker took two consecutive wickets. He spent 25 runs in his quota of four overs.
