In the last two years, more than 160 Chinese toy manufacturers have applied for a license for the BIS certification mark from the Bureau of Indian Standards. However, so far no BIS license has been given to any manufacturer.

BIS Director General Pramod Kumar Tiwari said during a press conference, "No Chinese toy manufacturer has been given a BIS license to date." This information was given in the program organized during the 76th Foundation Day of BIS.

"Chinese toy company did not apply for a license"

Pramod Tiwari said, "No Chinese company is allowed to bring toys from China to India. Also, on January 1, 2021, it was made mandatory that Chinese companies should have permission to bring toys from China. The license will have to be taken but since then no Chinese toy company has applied for the license.

Officials of the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) said on Friday that officials of the Bureau have also raided toy shops in airports and malls several times. Responding to a question, Pramod Tiwari said, "If you see any toy seller selling Chinese toys, you can complain to BSI." Also, he said that if anyone sees such a toy on which 'Made in China' is written, they can immediately complain to BSI and after that legal action will be taken.

Raids have been done at many places

He said, "We have started searches at Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, and Bengaluru airports and shops in many other major airports across the country. During our investigation, we also searched several malls. This search will continue throughout this month." "

Director General Tiwari told that during this raid BIS found bad toys made in China. He said that a preliminary investigation has revealed that some people are involved in smuggling toys from China into India. Tiwari said that many such cases have come to the fore in which toys are being imported from China in the name of Bharat Chocolate.

29 foreign companies have a license

Let us tell you, BIS has given this license to 982 domestic manufacturers in India. Along with this, 29 foreign manufacturers have also been licensed which includes manufacturers from Vietnam, Sri Lanka, Czechoslovakia, etc. Of the 29 licenses granted to foreign countries, 14 are held by Vietnamese companies.
