Pakistan: Pakistan will not attend the CJI meeting of SCO countries organized by India, issued a statement

Pakistan will not participate in the meeting of the Chief Justices of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO). It was announced by Pakistan on Thursday. Pakistani newspaper The Express Tribune has given this information. Pakistan is the only country that will not participate in the SCO Chief Justice meeting organized by India. Judges from all other countries, including new member Iran, will attend the meeting in person.

 

Pakistani judges will not attend the meeting

Pakistan Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mumtaz Zahra Baloch said in a statement that as one of the active members of the SCO, Pakistan regularly participates in all SCO activities and contributes constructively to their outcomes. He further said in his statement that the Honorable Chief Justice of Pakistan will not be able to participate in the SCO meeting of Chief Justices of Supreme Courts in this meeting to be held in India from March 10-12.

Pakistan apologizes to host India

He said, "Due to his unavoidable commitments on the dates of the scheduled meeting, the Hon'ble Chief Justice of Pakistan will not be able to attend the SCO meeting of Chief Justices of Supreme Courts scheduled from 10 to 12 March 2023. I convey our apologies to my Indian counterpart, who is the current host of the meeting."

 

India is presiding over SCO

The Express Tribune reported that India had extended an invitation to the Pakistani chief justice but Islamabad took a last-minute call on the country's top judge. It is known that India is the current chair of SCO, which also includes China, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, Russia, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan.

 

Many countries are included as members of SCO.

SCO members now include China, India, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, Russia, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan. Afghanistan, Belarus, Iran, and Mongolia constitute SCO observers, while Armenia, Azerbaijan, Cambodia, and Nepal are SCO dialogue partners.
