Sri Lankan Navy: Sri Lankan Navy 'attacked' Indian fishermen, arrested 14

A case of Indian fishermen being attacked and arrested by the Sri Lankan Navy has come to the fore. An Indian fisherman suffered an eye injury after he was allegedly attacked by the Sri Lankan Navy, an official said. Along with this, the Sri Lankan Navy has also arrested 14 fishermen for alleged maritime border violations.

 

Sri Lankan Navy arrested 14 fishermen

The injured fisherman, identified as Johnson of Rameshwaram, suffered an eye injury when he was attacked by Sri Lankan marines late on Wednesday night, the official said. In addition, 14 fishermen from the Nagapattinam district were apprehended by the Sri Lankan Navy and their boats were seized.

 

Fishermen fear the move of the Sri Lankan Navy.

Representatives of local fishermen said that both these incidents have created a lot of apprehension among fishermen. No official statement from India regarding these incidents has come to the fore yet. By the way, tell that even before this, the Sri Lankan Navy has taken such steps in the case of border violations.
