Four people died in an encounter that took place on the evening of 15 November in Srinagar. The name of one of those killed is Dr. Mudassir Gul. According to the police, Dr. Gul was working as an overground worker for the terrorists, but Gul's family is denying this. However, Jammu and Kashmir's Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha has now ordered an inquiry into the encounter and said that injustice will not be done to anyone.
Dr. Gul's family and other Kashmiris have been protesting against the encounter in the Press Colony of Srinagar for two days. These include Gul's one-year-old daughter, who is calling Baba-Baba with her father's photo in her hand. He doesn't know what trouble has struck him.
.. then kill me and the kids
It was only after the encounter that the police buried the bodies of all the terrorists including Dr. Gul. Dentist Dr. Gul's wife Humaira, who was among the protesters, is not taking the name of the tears drying up. She says, 'Give us justice. My daughter is asking her Baba again and again. Do justice to my three children. He was not a terrorist. If they were terrorists then show us the proof. We want his body so that my children and I can see his face. If the police give us proof that they were terrorists, then kill me and my children too.
Where is the law to bury without telling?
Humaira starts crying while talking. Head and chest beat. She has been roaming around with her one-year-old baby girl in her arms for two days. Humira tells that the husband used to bring chocolates for this girl every evening, lift her in her arms and kiss her forehead.
Now, mother and daughter have been pleading for two days to get Dr. Gul's body. Winter has increased in Srinagar and its effect is also visible on the girl child. Gul's children are shocked to see the media and the crowd.
Humaira told that the husband had left the house on Monday morning. His phone was found switched off in the evening. Later the family was told that they had been killed in an encounter. Humaira weeps and says, 'Before the burial, he would have given information. In which law is this written? First, tell us that we are buried.'
The daughter said - When asked the question, the police started laughing
After the encounter, the police had told that Mohammad Altaf Bhat also died during the firing. It is not yet clear whether he was killed by the bullets of the security forces or the terrorists. Police claim that Bhat had given the first floor of his building on rent to Dr. Gul and Gul used it to carry out terrorist activities. However, Bhat's family is denying this. Politicians and people from all sections of society are demanding the bodies of local people who have been buried. They are also demanding an independent inquiry into this encounter.
Bhat's 11-year-old daughter Nifa Jaan is also among the protesters. She says, 'Why to kill my father, why kill the doctor who was an eyewitness. When I asked the security forces why they killed my father, they started laughing. I have an 8-year-old brother, he is asking me where is Abbu. What shall I answer him? I told Abba to come back in the evening to collect some fruits. In the evening we came to know that he had been killed. At least return his body.
Father said - son was a laborer, not a terrorist
Another terrorist has been killed in the encounter, whose name is Amir. His father Abdul Latif Magre told that in 2005 my brother was killed by terrorists. After this, I crushed a terrorist with a stone and killed him with my own hands. I was also given a citation from the army. For 11 years we had to leave our homes and wander from door to door.
Magre says, 'My son was killed by labeling him a terrorist. The son's body was not even given for burial. This was the reward for my fight against terror. Even today the police are guarding my house. Tomorrow the security forces can declare me a terrorist by killing me too.
