According to the police, Askar Ali, president of the BJP Minority Front in Manipur, had supported the Waqf Amendment Act. The angry mob took this step. The incident took place on Sunday night in Lillong in Thoubal district.

According to the officials, Askar Ali had supported the Waqf Amendment Act on social media. After this, an angry mob gathered outside his house at around 9 pm on Sunday. The mob started vandalizing it. After some time, the house was set on fire.

 

Apologize for the previous statement

 

After the arson incident, Askar Ali has released a new video. In this, he apologized for his previous statement. He also opposed the Waqf Amendment Act.

 

Security forces clash with protesters.

 

On the other hand, protests were held against the Waqf Amendment Act in Muslim-dominated areas of Imphal Valley. More than five thousand people took part in the demonstration. NH-102 was also blocked in Lillong. According to officials, there has also been a clash between security forces and protesters in Irong Chesaba of Thoubal.

 

Security increased in Muslim-dominated areas.

The protesters raised slogans against the central government. Sakir Ahmed, who was involved in the demonstration, said, "The Waqf Amendment Act is against the spirit of the Constitution. The Muslim community will not accept it. Officials say that security has been increased in Muslim-dominated areas of Imphal Valley. Additional security forces have been deployed.

 

The Waqf Amendment Bill was passed by the Lok Sabha on Thursday night and the Rajya Sabha on Friday. After getting the President's approval, it has now become a law. The new law streamlines the management of Waqf properties.
