Supreme Court: SC stays the order of the High Court in the tender case of 2100 electric buses, now hearing on 2nd September

The Supreme Court has stayed the tender of 2100 electric buses by Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport (BEST). In its interim order, the Supreme Court has issued notice to the respondent, staying the order of the Bombay High Court. Now the court will hear the matter on September 2.

 

The High Court in its order upheld the decision of BEST in the case of 2100 electric buses. Under this decision, Tata Motors was disqualified in the tender.

 

what is the whole matter?

 

BEST, the company that operates electricity supply and buses in Mumbai, had issued a tender for the operation of 2100 electric buses in the metropolis. Tata Motors had also bid in this tender, but BEST disqualified Tata Motors for a technical assistant. After this, a petition was filed on behalf of Tata Motors saying that their bid was rejected arbitrarily, to benefit the preferred company.
