Krishna Janmashtami Festival: Krishna Janmashtami is celebrated in different parts of the country, a crowd of devotees gathered in Mathura too

Preparations are in full swing in temples across the country to celebrate Krishna Janmashtami today. With the Janmashtami celebrations starting on Thursday evening, temples in Mathura have thronged the temples.

 

The temples of the city are decorated with colorful lights on this holy festival. Cheers of "Jai Shri Krishna" are echoing throughout the city and in the temples.

 

There is a lot of enthusiasm among the devotees in Krishna temples across the country. People have started gathering at the ISKCON temple in Mumbai. There is a huge crowd of people to watch the morning aarti at the ISKCON temple in Noida.

 

At the same time, in Kozhikode, Kerala, devotees along with children took part in a procession, which was taken out on the occasion of Krishna Janmashtami.

 

Meanwhile, President Draupadi Murmu on Thursday greeted the countrymen on the eve of Janmashtami and said it inspires us to walk "the path of virtue in our thoughts, words, and actions". In a message, the President said, "On the auspicious occasion of Janmashtami, I extend my warm greetings and best wishes to all the countrymen in India and abroad."

 

He said, "Lord Krishna's life and teachings included the message of welfare and virtue. He propagated the concept of "Nishkaam Karma" and told people about the attainment of the Absolute Truth through the path of 'Dharma'. I pray that this festival of Janmashtami inspires us to walk the path of virtue in our thoughts, words, and actions."

 

Janmashtami is celebrated every year across the country to mark the birth anniversary of Lord Krishna. Devotees observe fast and offer prayers in temples.

 

According to the Hindu calendar, Lord Krishna, an incarnation of Lord Vishnu, was born on the eighth day of the month of Bhadra. According to the western calendar, this day mostly falls in August or September.

 

At the same time, on the occasion of Krishna Janmashtami, the entire city was decorated with colorful lights in Chandigarh. There is a lot of enthusiasm among the devotees at this festival.

 

In Karnataka too, people have gathered at the ISKCON temple in Bengaluru to celebrate the occasion of Krishna Janmashtami.
