Swati Maliwal controversy has put not only the Aam Aadmi Party but also the allies of the India Alliance in trouble. Congress is also refraining from commenting on this issue. During a press conference in Lucknow on May 16, both leaders Arvind Kejriwal and Akhilesh Yadav were seen avoiding commenting on the Swati Maliwal controversy. Today on May 17, during a press conference in Delhi, despite repeated questions by journalists, Congress National Media Incharge Jairam Ramesh refused to comment on the issue.
The shadow of this controversy may also fall on the election campaign of the Congress-Aam Aadmi Party in Delhi. The plan of Rahul Gandhi and Arvind Kejriwal to strengthen the alliance by holding a joint public meeting rally also seems to be in trouble. Earlier, Arvind Kejriwal had also not attended the press conference of Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge with Akhilesh Yadav in Lucknow. This was also seen as a precaution taken by the Congress.
Delhi Pradesh Congress had organized a press conference on Friday. Congress's national media in-charge Jairam Ramesh was about to address the journalists. Amidst the heated politics over the Swati Maliwal issue, a large number of journalists also reached the Delhi state office of Congress, Rajiv Bhawan. Sensing the intention of the journalists in the press conference which started half an hour late, the Congress leader already made it clear that he would not speak on any other issue except the environment. But even after this, during the entire press conference, he was continuously asked questions on the Swati Maliwal issue. However, even after this Jairam Ramesh refused to comment on this issue.
Priyanka Gandhi had made a strong comment on the Swati Maliwal controversy. She had said that she is a woman and she stands with women on any issue of indecency. But immediately after this comment of Priyanka Gandhi, the controversy of former Congress leader Radhika Kheda also came into discussion. Recently, Kheda had accused the party leaders of misbehaving with him in the Chhattisgarh Congress office. The party fears that if it makes any harsh comment on the Swati Maliwal issue, it may land itself in new trouble. Therefore, party leader Swati Maliwal is avoiding commenting on the controversy.
Radhika Kheda told
After Priyanka Gandhi's comment, Radhika Kheda immediately became an attacker. He told Amar Ujala on Friday that when he was misbehaved by the party workers in the Chhattisgarh Congress office, he had complained about it to all the top leaders of the party including Priyanka Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi and Jairam Ramesh, but no one took any action against him. Did not help. But today when Aam Aadmi Party leader Swati Maliwal has been misbehaved with, Priyanka Gandhi is talking about standing with women. He termed this stand of Priyanka Gandhi as double standard behavior and praised Swati Maliwal for fighting her battle openly.
Along with this, there is also doubt about the public meeting.
After Arvind Kejriwal came out of jail, the election campaign of the Aam Aadmi Party and Congress had gained momentum. Showing his commitment to Congress, Kejriwal also conducted road shows in the areas of Congress candidates. He also told his party workers to work hard with all their heart to make him and the Congress candidates win. Due to this, the electoral coordination between the two parties has improved and the condition of the candidates of India Alliance is said to be improving.
To strengthen their position on the seven seats of Delhi, candidates of both parties are demanding a joint rally and roadshow of Rahul Gandhi and Arvind Kejriwal. There was a consensus on this issue in the coordination committee of both parties. Due to the Swati Maliwal controversy coming to light in the last week of voting, the party leaders are not in a position to say anything about what will be the outcome of this scheme.
