University education for girls has been completely banned in Afghanistan. A day later, Higher Education Minister Neda Mohammad Nadeem defended the Taliban's decision. Neda has argued that the university education of girls has been banned because of gender mixing. Also, the university's syllabus was violating Islamic values.
Not only this, but Neda also said that "the girl students who were coming from home to the university were also not wearing hijab, rather they were wearing clothes as if they were going to a wedding."
The Higher Education Minister said that some of the planned reforms of the Islamic Emirate were not implemented earlier in the higher education sector. That's why they are being brought now.
World worried over Taliban's decision
This decision has been strongly condemned at the international level as well. The United Nations said this is a conspiracy to eradicate women from Afghan society. US Secretary of State Antony Blinken said the Taliban will not be able to become a member of the international community until it respects the rights of the people. The Organization of Islamic Cooperation has also condemned this decision and warned to change the decision.
Outrage among girl students studying
Talking to BBC, a student studying at the University of Afghanistan said – the Taliban destroyed the only bridge that connected me to my future. I believed that I could change my life by studying, but the Taliban shattered my hopes.
Taliban has stopped girls' education earlier also
After occupying Afghanistan stated the education of girls. It said that girls would not be able to study in boys' schools. Only female teachers or old men can teach them. The Taliban also banned boys and girls from sitting together in school. His secondary school studies were also banned.
