Team India running on the strength of Surya in T20: highest runs, strike rate, and fours and sixes in the last 5 months

The country changed, the opposition team changed, the tournament changed... just one thing didn't change. That is Suryakumar Yadav's batting. Surya scored 111 off just 51 balls in the second T20 International against New Zealand at the Bay Oval ground in Mount Maunganui. The strike rate was 217.64, hit 11 fours and 7 sixes in this innings.

 

Surya was the Indian batsman who scored the most runs in this innings. Ishaan Kishan was the second top scorer. He scored 36 runs. Surya also had the best strike rate. Shreyas Iyer, who scored 13 runs on 9 balls, remained at number two. His strike rate was 144. No one was around Surya even in fours and sixes.

 

So far 11 centuries have been scored for India in T20 International. 4 centuries came this year. Suryakumar Yadav alone has made 2 of these.

Since the start of this series, Surya has scored 1029 runs in 25 matches in 5 months at an average of 51.45 and a strike rate of 187.09. Virat Kohli, who is number two, scored 712 runs in 18 matches at an average of 59. But, Virat's strike rate (139) was nowhere close to Surya's.

 

Left everyone behind even in the era of fours and sixes

Surya has hit 96 fours and 58 sixes in 25 matches since July this year. No other Indian batsman has been able to get anywhere near him. In this period, in terms of fours, Virat (58 fours in 18 matches) is second and Rohit Sharma (55 fours in 23 matches) is number three. No other Indian batsman has been able to collect even 30 sixes during this period. Rohit is second with 27 sixes and KL Rahul is third with 26 sixes.

 

Became the world's number-1 batsman in the T20 rankings

Due to continuous good batting, Surya also became the world's number-1 batsman in T20 cricket. He ended the reign of Mohammad Rizwan and Babar Azam of Pakistan in the rankings. He is currently the only Indian batsman in the top 10.

 

What is the secret of Surya's success?

Surya can play shots all around the ground. That's why he is also called Mr. 360. Most Indian batsmen do not play sweep and reverse sweep against spinners. But, Surya does not hesitate to play such shots. It is not that he is power-hitting. They play with field placement. Play shots where there is a gap.

 

He recently said in an interview that he has two to three shots for every ball. Based on this ability, he fails every plan of the front team.
