The first Indian Biological Data Center (IBDC) in the country has been set up in Faridabad, adjacent to Delhi, to collect all the data related to Life Science. Due to this the path to success has been opened in the field of life science. This center has been set up at the Regional Center of Biotechnology in Faridabad. Union Science and Technology Minister Jitendra Singh inaugurated this center on Thursday. On this occasion, he called it an important step for medical research.
On this occasion, he said that this center will help in the identification and research of diseases like corona in the coming times. Along with this, genome sequencing of any disease can be done from this center within an hour and this center will be able to collect all the data related to science. This is the first such center in the country. Where life science data can be collected.
Whereas before today there was no such center in the country to store life science data. For this, we had to depend on countries like Europe and America. Because only these countries have the facility of a data bank to store this type of life science data. But now we will not have to depend on these countries.
According to information, built for 100 crores, this life science data center can store up to 4 petabytes and is equipped with a high-capacity supercomputing facility 'Brahma'.
Regarding this, according to the Executive Director of IBDC, Prof. Sudhanshu Vrati, with the help of this center, data related to life science will be available to the country and this data will be available without any legal hurdles.
Along with this, all the facilities will be available in this center for the researchers who are interested in doing an in-depth analysis of their computational calculations.
Prof. Sudhanshu Vrati has told that IBDC has been divided into 2 data portals, the first one will be the Indian Nucleotide Data Archive, which will work in collaboration with other countries in the same way. While the second portal is INDA-Access Control, whose data will not be shared with any other country. This data center will help in the identification and research of diseases.
We saw that in the last few years, genome sequencing investigation was done to identify the variant of a global epidemic like Corona. During this also a great need for data sharing was felt.
Explain that genome sequencing is the biodata of any virus. It is known what that virus looks like. How is that virus? This complete information is available through genome sequencing and it was greatly needed during the Corona period.
Because new variants of Corona were coming out. To find out which genome sequencing was being done and now after the formation of this Life Science Data Center, along with corona, complete information and research can be done about many other diseases like heart, TB, obesity, and diabetes. Because its complete data will be in our country only. Due to this we will not have to depend on other countries.
