Guyana's President Dr. Irfan Ali honored Prime Minister Narendra Modi with the country's highest civilian honor 'Order of Excellence' in Georgetown. During this, Prime Minister Modi said I express my heartfelt gratitude to my friend President Irfan Ali for honoring me with Guyana's highest award. This honor is not only mine but also the honor of 140 crore people of India. This proves your deep commitment to our relations, which will continue to inspire us to move forward in every field.

'We are constantly moving forward in every direction'

He said that India and Guyana relations are based on our shared history, cultural heritage, and deep mutual trust. President Irfan Ali has personally contributed a lot in taking these relations to unprecedented heights. Under his leadership, we are constantly moving forward in every direction.

'Our cooperation is important for the entire Global South'

Prime Minister Modi said that in today's discussions, I felt the affection and respect of the people of India towards them. India is also ready to walk shoulder-to-shoulder with Guyana in every field. Our cooperation as two democracies is important not only for bilateral relations but for the entire Global South.

'Many examples of similarities between India and Guyana'

He said that Guyana, blessed with many rivers, waterfalls, and lakes, is called the 'land of many glasses of water'. Just as the rivers of Guyana are part of the cultural identity of the people here, similarly the great rivers of India like Ganga, Yamuna, and Brahmaputra have been the birthplace of our ancient civilization. There are many such examples of similarities between India and Guyana, which further deepen our historical relations.

We consider you as a member of this CARICOM family: Ali.

Earlier, the President of Guyana said that technology, innovation, and digitalization should not be used to increase the gap between countries. This progress should be made to reduce the gap and poverty and bring the world together. India has been supporting new technology innovation and Prime Minister Modi reminded us in CARICOM that you are a member of this CARICOM family. We want to tell you that we consider you a member of this CARICOM family. This was a bilateral meeting, which was different. It was a meeting of ideas, an exchange of views, and a commitment to help each other overcome challenges.

Dominica also honored

Earlier, Dominica honored Prime Minister Modi with its highest national honor 'The Dominica Award of Honor'. During the India-CARICOM conference held in Guyana, Dominica President Sylvanie Berton honored Prime Minister Modi with this honor. In February 2021, Prime Minister Modi gave a valuable gift to Dominica by supplying 70 thousand doses of Corona vaccine AstraZeneca. Marking this generosity of Prime Minister Modi, the Government of Dominica decided to honor him with its highest civilian honor.

Honored with the highest honors in many countries

Prime Minister Modi has been honored by many countries with their highest civilian honors. In July itself, Russian President Vladimir Putin honored Prime Minister Modi with his country's highest civilian honor, the 'Order of St. Andrew the Apostle'. Before that, PM Modi was also honored with Bhutan's highest civilian honor, the Order of the Druk Gyalpo. This is the first time Bhutan has given this honor to a non-Bhutanese person. Prime Minister Modi has also received top civilian awards from the United Arab Emirates, Afghanistan, Bahrain and Saudi Arabia, France, Egypt, Fiji, Papua New Guinea, Palau, America, Maldives, and Palestine.
