Keeping in mind the 65% youth population of the country, the central government is considering reducing the age limit of the candidate in the Lok Sabha and Vidhansabha elections. Many political parties are in favor of it. These parties are arguing that if the age limit for contesting elections in Municipal Corporation-Council is 21 years, then why this age limit should be 25 years for Vidhansabha and Lok Sabha?

 

Not only this, if at the age of 18 the youth can vote and elect the government, then why can't they join the government?

 

More and more youth can get a chance

Some parties including RLD, MIM, YSRCP, RJD, BJD and Shiv Sena (Uddhav faction) are in favor of reducing the age limit. Many MPs of the BJP and Congress also want time has come to reduce the age limit. Sources say that the central government has started brainstorming seriously in this regard. India is a young country, but the government believes that after 2030 the average age of the people of the country will start increasing. That's why the next 7-8 years are such that more and more youths can get a chance to reach the Parliament or Legislative Assemblies as people's representatives.

 

Therefore, it is necessary to take a decision soon on this issue. The average age of the country's population is 25 years, which is 10 years younger than in China and 15 years younger than in the US. That is, no big country in the world has youth power like India. Even India will not be left with it in the coming 20 years. That's why the government believes that revolutionary changes can take place by giving maximum opportunities to the youth.

 

Jayant Chaudhary introduced a private bill in Parliament

Rashtriya Lok Dal leader Jayant Singh Chowdhary has introduced a private bill in the Parliament in this regard. On his bill, a senior BJP leader believes that any political party can present this issue in a big way to woo the youth. That's why we should take the initiative that the minimum age to become an MLA or MP should be 21 years in time.
