The Modi government presented the first budget of its third term today i.e. on 23 July. During this time, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced several important steps to remove the resentment of the country's youth. Not only is the opposition attacking the government regarding the rigging in examinations like NEET-UG, and NET and the problem of employment, but there is anger among the youth of the country as well. In such a situation, let us know what the government announced for the students and youth in the interim budget and what announcements were made for them in the interim budget before this.
First, let us know what was announced in the interim budget.
The Finance Minister had told in the interim budget speech presented on February 1 that 1.4 crore youth have been trained in the country under the Skill India Mission. Also, 54 lakh have been upskilled or re-skilled. Mudra Yojana loans worth Rs 43 crore were given to young entrepreneurs under the PM Mudra Yojana. 3000 new ITI have been built in the country. Along with this, seven IITs, 16 IIITs, seven IIMs, 15 AIIMS, and 390 universities have been built in the country. However, opposition parties have always accused the government of ignoring the youth. According to the opposition parties, the government is constantly ignoring the problem of increasing unemployment among the youth. Along with this, getting schemes like Agniveer in the army is playing with their future.
These announcements were made for the youth in the last budget.
In Budget 2023 for jobs for the youth, the government announced the recruitment of 38,800 teachers and support staff for 740 Eklavya Model Residential Schools.
Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana 4.0 was launched. Under this lakhs of youth are being trained in coding, robotics, 3D printing, drone technology, etc.
It was announced to build 30 Skill India International Centers in different states. It was announced that a fund of Rs 9,000 crore would be created under the Credit Guarantee Scheme for the MSME sector.
It was announced that 157 new nursing colleges would be opened along with the 157 medical colleges built in the country till 2014.
What do the youth expect from the government in this year's budget?
The youth, who are facing the brunt of unemployment, also have many expectations from the first budget of the third term of the Modi government. At present, the biggest problem faced by the youth in the country is to ensure livelihood. The youth are constantly appealing to the government to take strong steps in this direction. In the first two terms of the Modi government, many steps were taken to provide employment to the youth through Skill India and Make in India missions, but those steps have proved insufficient on the ground. In such a situation, the youth is expecting this time that the government should take some steps for their welfare that can be implemented seriously on the ground, and not remain just empty talk.
The number of posts listed on the National Career Service Portal has increased to 1.09 crores, while the number of people registering for jobs is only 87.2 lakhs. Despite the increase in the number of jobs, the youth are not getting work because the candidate does not meet the parameters for the job. In some cases, people do not apply for the job if the salary is contractual or low. The government is also expected to take steps in this budget to improve this situation. In the pre-budget meetings, CII has suggested that skill development should be promoted to create new jobs. PM Skill Development Scheme is being run in the country, in which the target should be set to provide jobs to a maximum number of youth in the coming years.
