RCB vs LSG: BCCI's strict action on Virat-Gambhir after the debate in the field, this Afghan player was not spared

IPL's media release said, "Lucknow Super Giants mentor Gautam Gambhir fined match fee for breach of IPL Code of Conduct during Tata Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 match against Royal Challengers Bangalore at Bharat Ratna Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium." A 100% penalty has been imposed. Gambhir has admitted a Level 2 offense under Article 2.21 of the IPL Code of Conduct."

 

The same media release further stated “Royal Challengers Bangalore batsman Virat Kohli was fined 100 percent of his match fee for breaching the IPL Code of Conduct during their Tata Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 match at the Bharat Ratna Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium has been applied. Kohli has admitted to a Level 2 offense under Article 2.21 of the IPL Code of Conduct."

 

After the match, Kohli and Gambhir had an altercation, following which Amit Mishra, RCB captain Faf du Plessis, and LSG assistant coach Vijay Dahiya had to come to the rescue. Later Kohli was also seen talking to LSG captain KL Rahul.

 

LSG pacer Naveen-ul-Haq was also fined 50 percent of his match fee for breaching the IPL's code of conduct. During the post-match handshake, Naveen-ul-Haq and Kohli clashed. What happened in the match?

The whole affair started in the 17th over of Lucknow's innings when Virat came running from behind the stumps and gestured something to Naveen. After the victory of Bangalore, when it comes to shaking hands of both the teams, Kohli is seen saying something while shaking hands with Naveen. When Kohli is walking along the boundary, he starts talking to Kyle Meyers of Lucknow. Gambhir arrives in the meantime and takes Meyers away and refuses to talk to Kohli. After this Gambhir says something on which Kohli calls him near and tries to have a conversation with him. During this, both Kohli and Gambhir come very close and there is an argument between the two. In the end, there is a long conversation between Kohli and Lokesh Rahul.
