Mitra, a Kashmiri Pandit living in New York, on January 8, 1981. Dr. Mitra had written a letter to the then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi after the sudden disappearance of her niece living in Kashmir. In response, Indira Gandhi sent him a letter.
