The beauty of Kashmir is shining once again on the film screen. During the last two years, the shooting of 200 Bollywood films, web series, and albums was approved here. This is a record figure for the last 34 years. Kashmir was under the scorching heat of militancy since the early 90s.
Now the situation has improved to a great extent from the point of view of security. South Indian filmmakers including Bollywood are also shooting here. The Jammu and Kashmir Film Development Council (JKFDC) was formed in 2021. There is a system of single window clearance to ease the process of film shooting.
Registration of more than 1000 artists after the formation of JKFDC
Till now, more than one thousand artists are registered with JKFDC. This makes it easier for local artists to get work. Zahoor Ahmed, a local filmmaker, says that along with the artists, line producers, technicians, and camerapersons involved in the film production are also getting enough work.

90% of the films in Jammu and Kashmir are shot in Kashmir. The filmmakers are now shooting in traditional locations like Gulmarg, Pahalgam, and Dal Lake in Kashmir, besides newer destinations like Gurez and Wular in Bandipora, Dudhpathri, and Yoshmarg.
