What are the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam?
The LTTE started raising its head in the 70s in Sri Lanka. LTTE was a movement for an independent Tamil state separate from Sri Lanka. Gradually, the LTTE movement was becoming fierce and violent for its demand.
In 1983, LTTE killed 13 Sri Lankan soldiers in Jaffna. Because of this violence further erupted. The violent confrontation between the LTTE and the Sri Lankan army started increasing. As a result, the civil war started in Sri Lanka.
