Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid tribute to the heroes of the Kargil War at the Kargil War Memorial in Drass on the occasion of the 25th Kargil Vijay Diwas. India won the Kargil War on 26 July 1999. This day is celebrated every year as Kargil Vijay Diwas.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that today this great land of Ladakh is witnessing the 25th anniversary of Kargil Vijay Diwas. Kargil Vijay Diwas tells us that the sacrifices made for the nation are immortal.

PM Modi said I remember how our forces carried out such a difficult war operation at such a height. I respectfully salute all such brave warriors who brought victory to the country. I salute those martyrs who made the supreme sacrifice to protect the motherland in Kargil.

The Prime Minister said that in Kargil we did not only win the war. But truth has also won. At that time India was working for peace, but Pakistan betrayed. Pakistan had to face defeat. Pakistan has not learned anything from its history. Pakistan is trying to make itself relevant with the help of terrorism and proxy war.

The Prime Minister conducted the first blast of the Shinkun La tunnel project.

Prime Minister Modi conducted the first blast of the Shinkun La tunnel project through a virtual medium. This tunnel will provide all-weather connectivity to Ladakh. This tunnel project also includes a 4.1 km long twin-tube tunnel, which will be constructed at an altitude of about 15,800 feet on the Nimu-Padum-Darcha road.

This will provide all-weather connectivity to Leh. It will be the highest tunnel in the world. The Shinkun La tunnel will not only ensure fast and efficient movement of our armed forces and equipment but will also promote economic and social development in Ladakh.

The land of Drass resounded with the cheers of war heroes.

A grand program was held in Lamochen (Drass) on Thursday on the 25th anniversary of Kargil Vijay Diwas. In this, the heroic saga of the Kargil war heroes was narrated. Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi was the chief guest. All the top officers of the Army's Northern Command were also present.

The event began with a flypast by the Flying Rabbits of Microlight Node Gaya. Audiovisuals of the events of the Kargil War were played. The entire story of the Kargil war was narrated in it. The live narration against the backdrop of the mountains where fierce battles took place brought each battle scene alive.

The venue reverberated with tales of the bravery and sacrifice of the soldiers. The presence of war heroes, Veer Naris, Veer Maas, and relatives of the brave soldiers who sacrificed their lives during the war added to the grandeur of the event. In the Kargil War, soldiers of the Indian Armed Forces fought in harsh weather conditions in the most challenging terrains, resulting in the defeat of the enemy in the Drass, Kargil, and Batalik sectors.
