The wait for the Eknath Shinde government cabinet expansion in Maharashtra is about to end. A senior BJP leader has claimed that the cabinet expansion of the state government will take place on Tuesday. During this, about a dozen MLAs can be sworn in as ministers. The most important Home Ministry can go to the account of Deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis. A senior BJP leader told PTI, “The expansion of the cabinet will take place in Mumbai tomorrow. I cannot give more details on this. Can't even tell who will get a place in it.
Devendra Fadnavis and Eknath Shinde have visited Delhi several times in the last few days. This weekend too both the leaders were in Delhi and CM Eknath Shinde also participated in the meeting of the NITI Aayog. On Sunday itself, quoting sources, it was revealed that Eknath Shinde may expand his cabinet in the new week. A total of 15 ministers can get a place in this. It is being said that Devendra Fadnavis may get the Home Ministry. Apart from this, Chandrakant Patil, Ashish Shelar, and Sudhir Mungantiwar can also get a place in the cabinet.
According to sources, 7 MLAs of the Eknath Shinde faction and 8 MLAs of the BJP can take oath as ministers in the cabinet expansion. On Saturday itself, Eknath Shinde had told that the work of the government was not affected due to the delay in cabinet expansion and some more ministers could be inducted soon. In the cabinet expansion, BJP can take care of municipal elections and 2024 general elections. Particularly, the BJP is focusing on consolidating itself in areas that have been strongholds of Shiv Sena and NCP.
BJP leader told - 27 ministerial posts will come into the account, and 16 will be of the Shinde faction
This cabinet expansion, which takes place after 40 days, can happen at 11 am in the Central Hall of the Vidhan Sabha or the Durbar Hall of the Raj Bhavan. Even today, the meeting of Devendra Fadnavis and Eknath Shinde went on for one and a half hours, in which there was talk about cabinet ministers. It is being said that both the leaders have prepared a list of ministers, which has been sent to the BJP's central leadership for approval. A BJP leader said, “The expansion of the cabinet will happen in a phased manner. On Tuesday morning 12 to 15 ministers can take the oath. Non-controversial and senior faces can be included in this. Under the power-sharing formula, BJP will get 27 ministerial posts and 16 ministerial posts can go into the account of the Eknath Shinde faction.
The two-man government was running in Maharashtra since June 30
Eknath Shinde and Devendra Fadnavis took oath on June 30, but since then the two-man government was in operation. There was also criticism from the opposition regarding this. Ajit Pawar had said that by not expanding the cabinet, the interests of the state are being harmed. Responding to this, Fadnavis had said, 'Ajit Pawar is the leader of the opposition. He can do such things. Ajit Dada forgets that when he was in the government there were only 5 ministers for 32 days.
