The Joint Parliamentary Committee constituted for detailed deliberations on the One Nation, One Election Bill will consult Attorney General R. Venkataramani on the issue of holding simultaneous elections.
Joint Parliamentary Committee Chairman PP Chaudhary said that Venkataramani and Chairman of Telecom Dispute Settlement and Appellate Tribunal and former Chief Justice of Delhi High Court Justice DN Patel will express their views on the bill to hold simultaneous elections before the Parliamentary Committee on Tuesday.
Consultations with legal experts continue.
Chaudhary said that the committee is consulting many legal experts. The valuable opinion of the experts will help the committee in preparing recommendations. Sources said that the Lok Sabha can extend the tenure of this committee, as the committee will need more time to complete its work.
The committee was asked to submit its report on the first day of the last week of this session of Parliament. This deadline is ending on April 4.
