Delhi: Loudspeakers will not be played louder than the prescribed standards at any religious place, police issued new instructions

Delhi Police has issued new instructions regarding loudspeakers. Now loudspeakers will not be played louder than the prescribed standards at any religious place. Permission will have to be taken from the police to install loudspeakers at any place. Loudspeakers or public address systems cannot be used in public places without permission. Police permission will also be required to take loudspeakers from tent houses.

 

Police issued instructions

 

The sound level in public places will be limited to a maximum of 10 dB(A).

 

The sound of privately owned sound systems should not exceed 5 dB(A) from the prescribed limit.

 

In industrial areas, a 75dB noise limit has been set from 6 am to 10 pm and a 70dB noise limit from 10 pm to 6 am.

 

In residential areas, a 55dB noise limit has been set from 6 am to 10 pm and a 45dB noise limit from 10 pm to 6 am.

 

In silence zones, a 50dB noise limit has been set from 6 am to 10 pm and a 40dB noise limit from 10 pm to 6 am.

 

The order issued by Delhi Police states that all tent, loudspeaker and generator suppliers should be given clear instructions not to give equipment to users without written permission from the local police. District DCPs should ensure that suppliers comply with this requirement and take legal action against suppliers who do not comply.

 

Improper use of loudspeakers/public address systems will attract a penalty of ₹10,000 and confiscation of the equipment.

More than 1000 KVA: ₹1,00,000

 

62.5 - 1000 KVA: ₹25,000

 

Up to 62.5 KVA: ₹10,000
