Trinamool Congress MP Kailash Banerjee on Tuesday accused Agriculture and Rural Development Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan of acting as a 'broker' for the rich and criticized the Central government over pending central funds for Bengal. The BJP immediately hit back. Minister of State for Agriculture Bhagirath Choudhary demanded an apology from the Bengal MP for his derogatory language against Chouhan.

Speaking to reporters outside Parliament, Banerjee alleged that central funds for Bengal under schemes like MNREGA and PMAYG have been pending for the last three years. He alleged that the Centre was discriminating against the state because the BJP failed to form a government there.
Banerjee, MP from Serampore in Bengal, alleged that Shivraj Chouhan is a 'broker' for the rich. He does not work for the poor and that is why he was removed from the post of Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh. He repeated his 'broker' statement several times.
