
Justice Yashwant Verma of Delhi High Court, who is facing investigation after unaccounted cash was found in his government residence, has been sent to his original court Allahabad High Court along with taking back his judicial work. On the other hand, Allahabad High Court Bar Association has announced to go on indefinite strike from Tuesday in protest against the Collegium's decision to send Justice Verma.
A note was issued by the High Court Registrar (Listing) on Monday on the notice issued by Delhi High Court Chief Justice Devendra Kumar Upadhyay. It said that in view of the recent developments, judicial work is being taken back from Justice Verma. Justice Yashwant Verma was till now part of a two-member bench along with Justice Harish Vaidyanathan Shankar.

Meanwhile, the Supreme Court Collegium headed by Chief Justice Sanjeev Khanna on Monday confirmed its decision to send Justice Verma back to Allahabad High Court. In a resolution uploaded on the website of the apex court, the recommendation made to the Central Government regarding sending Justice Verma back was made public.
The proposal said- 'The Supreme Court Collegium in its meetings held on March 20 and March 24 has recommended sending Justice Yashwant Verma, a judge of the Delhi High Court, back to the Allahabad High Court.' The Supreme Court had said on March 21 that the Chief Justice of the Delhi High Court has initiated an internal inquiry against Justice Verma and the proposal to send him back to the Allahabad High Court is separate.
The investigation had already begun.
The Supreme Court statement said that misinformation and rumors are being spread regarding the incident at Justice Verma's residence. On receiving the information, Justice Upadhyay has started the internal investigation process, gathering evidence and information. It is being told that Justice Upadhyay had started the investigation even before the Supreme Court Collegium meeting on March 20.
The alleged recovery of cash took place after a fire broke out at Justice Verma's official residence at around 11:35 pm on the night of March 14. Allahabad High Court Bar Association has announced an indefinite strike from Tuesday in protest against the decision of the Supreme Court Collegium to send Justice Yashwant Verma back to Allahabad High Court.

The officials said that due to the changed situation, as per the decision taken in the emergency meeting, we advocates will abstain from judicial work from Tuesday till further notice.
Earlier in the general meeting held in the library after the lunch break, along with impeachment against Justice Yashwant Verma, a proposal was passed to get the case of burning of cash in his government residence investigated by other agencies besides CBI and ED. It was also demanded that the decisions taken by Yashwant Verma as a judge should be reviewed. The Bar Association has reiterated that Allahabad High Court is not a dumping ground for corrupt and tainted judges.
