BCCI is trying hard to save the second phase of IPL from Corona. During the league, UAE's VPS Healthcare has been partnered for services like Emergency Medical Service, Sports Medicine Support, Specialist Tele Consultation, Doctor on Call, Ambulance, Air Ambulance.
A 100 member team has been formed for medicine and Covid-19 management, which will help the players. Two medical teams will be available in the stadium for each match, consisting of doctors, nurses, paramedics, and lab technicians.
Fewer matches but more tests
Despite having fewer matches in the second phase, there will be more Covid Tests. Before the players reached the UAE, more than 750 staff were tested in 14 hotels in Dubai and Abu Dhabi. According to the new Covid protocol, all players and officials will be tested every third day. There will be 30 thousand corona tests during the tournament. In addition, nurses and other medical staff have been accommodated in the same 14 hotels in which the players are located until the end of the league for safe bio-bubbles.
Dr. Shajir Ghaffar, CEO, VPS Healthcare said, “Our team is ready to provide medical facilities during the IPL. We are trying our best to provide a safe environment throughout the tournament. The UAE has a good strike rate in terms of high-profile sports events during the pandemic. After IPL there is also T20 World Cup. Hopefully, this will help UAE emerge as a safe global sporting destination.
