Tractor rally in Delhi uncontrolled: 300 policemen injured in sabotage and violence, high alert in Haryana-Punjab

Police are in constant action against the agitation that took place on January 26 in the farmers' tractor rally in protest against the agricultural laws. So far 22 FIRs have been registered on incidents of violence and sabotage. Police are investigating CCTV footage to identify the miscreants. Police claim that 300 jawans have been injured. On the other hand, Haryana and Punjab governments have declared high alert in their respective states.

 

The farmers started their tractor parade ahead of schedule on Tuesday. The police had set the time and route for the parade from 12 noon to 5 pm on Tuesday. Sindhu, Tikri, and Ghazipur entry points were made to enter Delhi. However, the farmers broke barricades at these entry points at 8.30 am and entered Delhi forcefully, and started their parade. Police claim that 300 soldiers were injured in the day-long violence.

 

After the violence in Delhi on Tuesday, Home Minister Amit Shah called a high-level meeting. Shah ordered additional companies of paramilitary forces to be sent to the capital. The Delhi Police has been ordered to deal strictly with the miscreants. In this case, Delhi Police has registered seven FIRs. At the same time, an emergency cabinet meeting was called in Haryana after the violence in Delhi. Chief Minister Khattar directed the police to be on high alert. Also, Internet and SMS services have been closed in three districts of Delhi, Sonepat, Palwal, and Jhajjar.

Entry of the parade in Delhi: The farmers started their parade about three and a half hours before the scheduled time. The farmers did not follow the route fixed from the beginning. Farmers first entered Delhi from the Singhu border. Barricades were broken here. After this, farmers entered Tikri and Ghazipur in Delhi in a similar manner. Seeing the number and attitude of farmers riding on tractors, the police also retreated from here.

 

Mahabharata in Pandav Nagar: The farmers, who came out of the Ghazipur border here, stopped at Noida turn around 12.30 pm and released tear gas shells. After this, the farmers also threw stones at the police and vandalized the trains. At the same place, the band of Nihangas was also seen waving the sword. The police claim that the farmers tried to put a tractor on the Pandav Nagar police picket.

 

Death of farmer in ITO: Farmers tried to turn the tractor parade towards India Gate. This is where the police stopped them. If the farmers do not agree, lathi-charge and tear gas are also released. Many policemen and agitators were also injured. Here, an agitator trying to break the barricade died due to a tractor overturning. This farmer was a Navneet hailing from Bajpur in Uttarakhand. He recently came to India from Australia for marriage. The farmers kept staging the Navneet's body here till 6 pm.

 

Kohram at Red Fort: The farmers who left from Sindhu changed the route and they proceeded towards the Red Fort. At around two in the afternoon, thousands of farmers forcibly entered the Red Fort and parked their tractors outside. Scrambled with the police here, vandalized, and then climbed the ramparts. Amidst the uproar and uproar, a young man rushed forward and climbed the pole and put the flag of the Khalsa Panth, where the Prime Minister hoists the tricolor on 15 August every year. The farmers kept on fussing here for about one and a half hours. The police had to resort to lathi-charge to chase them away.

 

20 metro stations and internet closed: From 8:30 am to 5.30 pm on Tuesday, farmers went to chaos wherever they reached. Trains were also stopped at Tilak Bridge railway station for about 2 hours following the entry of farmers in ITO and Central Delhi. After this Jama Masjid, Dilshad Garden, Jhilmil, Mansarovar Park metro stations were closed. Entry and exit gates at 4 metro stations were also closed on the grayline. Apart from these, Indraprastha, Samaypur Badli, Rohini Sector 18/19, Haiderpur Badli More, Jahangirpuri, Adarshanagar, Azadpur, Model Town, GTB Nagar, University, Vidhan Sabha, and Civil Line Metro stations remained closed for about two hours. Internet service was also briefly halted in the wake of the violence.

 

Farmer leader said - Law not broken: On the violent incidents during the tractor parade, the leaders of United Kisan Morcha said that the law has not been broken on our behalf. Bhartiya Kisan Union spokesperson Rakesh Tikait said, '32 farmers associations were following the route set by the police for the tractor parade. We know who is trying to interrupt. These are people from political parties who want to discredit the movement.

 

Delhi Police bid - Tractors took off route: On violence during the parade, Delhi Police Commissioner SN Srivastava said, 'The timing and route of the tractor rally was decided after several rounds of talks. But, the farmers started the rally ahead of time and took the tractor off the fixed route. This led to violence, in which many policemen were injured.

 

Shah called the meeting, summoned the report: Because of the deteriorating situation in Delhi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah called an emergency meeting at 5 pm on Tuesday. Top officials of Delhi Police, Intelligence, and Home Ministry were present in the meeting. Home Ministry Secretary Ajay Bhalla informed Shah about the situation in Delhi. Bhalla told him when and how violent the farmers' tractor rally against agricultural laws became.

 

After the violence, the peasant leaders asked to end the parade: Violent incidents occurred in various areas including ITO, Pandav Nagar, Nangloi, Mubaraka Chowk, Sanjay Gandhi Transport Nagar throughout the day. During this time a farmer also died. After the vandalism and scuffle in the vehicles, the police left tear gas shells and lathi-charged somewhere. After about 11 hours of violence and uproar, farmers' organizations immediately appealed to the protesters to end the parade and return to the border points at seven-thirty in the evening.
