New Delhi, Jan 22 (IANS) Traffic restrictions have been imposed in Delhi ahead of US President Barack Obama's visit, with roads leading to ITC Maurya Hotel shut down completely for the entire duration of his visit, police said here Thursday.
Obama will be staying in Maurya Hotel.
"Sardar Patel Marg will be shut from Jan 25 morning (the day Obama arrives) from Panchsheel to Dhaula Kuan. It will be relaxed as per the VIP movement," Joint Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Anil Shukla told the media.
Obama accompanied by his wife Michelle will arrive in the national capital Jan 25 morning on a three-day state visit. He would be the chief guest at this year's Republic Day parade.
"Akbar Road to Kasturba Gandhi Marg will also be shut for a few hours Jan 25 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.," he said.
"The areas close to Rajpath will be only open for bonafide residents and for officials of embassies during parade (Jan 26) and dress rehearsal (Jan 23)," Shukla said.
He also said those who want to go to airport can take Ring Road and no restrictions will be placed around hospitals.
Besides, Shukla said the Central Secretariat and Udyog Bhawan Metro stations will be closed from Jan 25 night and re-open at 12 noon Jan 26. However, Patel Chowk and Race Course stations will be closed at 8.45 a.m. Jan 26 and reopen only after the parade ends.
The Metro service at Rajiv Chowk station will remain normal Jan 26.
