On the occasion of Makar Sankranti, Prayagraj became the most populous city in the world for a day. This achievement was recorded in the account of Prayagraj due to lakhs of devotees who came from the country and abroad on the first Amrit Snan festival of Maha Kumbh.

 

The population of Prayagraj crossed the figure of four crores for a day. On Makar Sankranti, 3.50 crore people took a holy dip here. The population of the district is around 70 lakhs.

If the devotees coming on Makar Sankranti and the population of Prayagraj are added, then this number becomes 4.20 crores. Tokyo of Japan is the most populous city in the world.

On the occasion of Makar Sankranti in Prayagraj, on Tuesday, the biggest human gathering of Sanatan tradition was seen in a grand form. The faith of the bathers kept overflowing everywhere. Apart from the fair area, there was a crowd of bathers on the main roads as well.

 

Cheers for Mother Ganga and Bhole Baba

 

Various colors were seen in the city of faith. People kept walking chanting the praises of Mother Ganga and Bhole Baba. Amidst enthusiasm and cheers, even the fatigue of walking for several kilometers and the cold could not shake the faith of the people.

 

On Paush Purnima itself, more than 1.5 crore people took a dip at Sangam and the surrounding ghats. The next day, i.e. Tuesday, was the Amrit Snan festival of Makar Sankranti.

 

In such a situation, apart from about 10 lakh Kalpvasis and their families, a large number of other devotees also stayed in the fair area and took baths. Apart from these, Akharas and other saints and their followers also reached the fair area by Monday.

 

Along with the fair area, there was a huge crowd on the main roads.

 

On Tuesday also, a huge crowd of bathers gathered. From dawn, only devotees were seen on all the roads. The situation was such that there was no space left on the Kali Marg, dam, or all the pontoon bridges. Crowds of devotees, saints, and their followers were seen everywhere.

 

People were walking while singing bhajans.

 

So that they do not get separated, the person walking ahead in the group was carrying some sign or the other. At the same time, a large number of people were walking while singing bhajans. Such scenes also remained the center of attraction for the people. This sequence continued till late evening.
