Workers on Tuesday created a ruckus on the sets of Ranbir Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor starrer Luv Ranjan's next film while shooting for a song. The workers say that they have money left for more than five months. It is said that in October 2021, the set was set up by the daily workers for this film shot in the Charkop area of Kandivali. These daily wage workers say that they have had arrears of money for more than five months. Seeing the uproar of the workers who reached the set, the police were called. The workers were taken to the Aarey police station and later the officials of the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) also reached there and after understanding the side of the workers, the police sent them back.
In this regard, FWICE President BN Tiwari says that wherever the workers' money is left, the workers themselves are stopping work there. FWICE will mediate in this and get the workers' money. It is alleged that Lub Films had contracted Dipankar Das Gupta to set up the sets of this film and also gave him full money. Dipankar Das Gupta had outsourced the project to a company from where the two men agreed with Dipankar Das Gupta. This company later outsourced it to someone else and Rs 1 crore 22 lakh of the workers got stuck.
In this regard, production designer Dipankar Das Gupta said, If it was my mistake, would I still be shooting with Luv? I am on the same Ranbir-Shraddha Kapoor set. Ashok Dubey, general secretary of FWICE, says that this outsourcing business should be stopped. Why are the workers not paid directly by the manufacturers? This way of working puts immense stress on the workers. It has happened before and will happen again.
