Doctor Murder Case: CBI begins investigation into female doctor murder case, special medical, forensic team reaches Kolkata

The CBI has started an investigation into the rape and murder of a woman at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital in Kolkata, West Bengal. The CBI has registered a new FIR in the investigating agency. Given this, a team of CBI from Delhi reached Kolkata in the case. CBI has sent a special medical and forensic team from Delhi. After reaching Kolkata, the team first reached New Town Rajarhat to meet the officials of BSF-South Bengal Frontier. The Calcutta High Court had ordered the investigation of the case to be handed over to the CBI on the previous day.

 

Earlier, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) took over the investigation of the murder on Tuesday. The agency had completed all the formalities within a few hours of the order of the Calcutta High Court. The court had directed the state police to hand over the documents of the case to the central investigating agency. The High Court had directed the state police to hand over the case diary to the CBI by 10 am on Wednesday.

What is the matter?

The body of a postgraduate trainee, who was allegedly raped and murdered in the auditorium of the government RG Kar Hospital in Kolkata, was recovered on Friday morning. A man was arrested in this connection on Saturday. The victim's parents had approached the court seeking a court-monitored probe into the case. Several other PILs were also filed demanding a CBI probe.

 

What's in the post-mortem report?

 

The preliminary post-mortem report revealed that the deceased was rape assaulted and murdered. The victim was bleeding from her eyes, mouth, and private parts. She also had injuries on her left leg, neck, right hand, and lips.

 

Know about the accused

 

The Kolkata Police has arrested a 33-year-old man in the case. He joined the Kolkata Police as a civilian volunteer in 2019. The accused is a trained boxer and has come close to some senior police officers over the years. He was then transferred to the Kolkata Police Welfare Board and posted at the police post of RG Kar Medical College and Hospital.
