The CBI has started an investigation into the rape and murder of a woman at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital in Kolkata, West Bengal. The CBI has registered a new FIR in the investigating agency. Given this, a team of CBI from Delhi reached Kolkata in the case. CBI has sent a special medical and forensic team from Delhi. After reaching Kolkata, the team first reached New Town Rajarhat to meet the officials of BSF-South Bengal Frontier. The Calcutta High Court had ordered the investigation of the case to be handed over to the CBI on the previous day.

The agency had completed all the formalities within a few hours of the order of the Calcutta High Court. The court had directed the state police to hand over the documents of the case to the central investigating agency. The High Court had directed the state police to hand over the case diary to the CBI by 10 am on Wednesday.

The body of a postgraduate trainee, who was allegedly raped and murdered in the auditorium of the government RG Kar Hospital in Kolkata, was recovered on Friday morning.
