New Delhi, Jan 27 (IANS) The woman executive allegedly raped by Uber cab driver was not drunk on the day of the crime - Dec 5 last year, her friend told the court Tuesday.
Testifying as a prosecution witness in the case, the friend denied the suggestion made by defence counsel of accused Shiv Kumar Yadav, telling Additional Sessions Judge Kaveri Baweja that neither he nor the victim were under influence of alcohol on the date of incident.
"It is wrong to suggest that both myself and the victim had consumed alcohol," he told the court, adding that he booked a cab through Uber app for the victim after having dinner in Gurgaon.
He also identified the driver.
The court also recorded the testimony of woman sub inspector Alma Minz, who had taken the victim to hospital for her medical examination, as a prosecution witness in the case.
The trial is being conducted on a day-to-day basis and the hearing will be continue Wednesday.
Yadav, 32, was arrested jointly by Delhi and Uttar Pradesh Police Dec 7 last year from his hideout in Mathura.
The court Jan 13 framed charges of rape and causing grievous bodily harm or endangering the life of a woman, kidnapping a woman, criminal intimidation and voluntarily causing hurt under various sections of the Indian Penal Code against him.
