Amidst the ongoing controversy over the film 'Udaipur Files', the film's producer Amit Jani met Information and Broadcasting Minister Ashwini Vaishnav. He talked about the release of the film in a conversation with Ashwini Vaishnav on Monday, August 04. Talking to news agency ANI, Jani said that this is the second time he has been called for a meeting regarding the release of his film.
Said - 'Hope the government will take a positive decision'
The producer said, 'When Mohammad Javed and Maulana Arshad Madni filed petitions and put forth their side, we had met earlier, and now we have met again. We hope that the government will make a positive decision, and we will be able to release the film. Let us tell you that the film 'Udaipur Files' is based on the murder of tailor Kanhaiya Lal in Udaipur, Rajasthan. This film is already in controversy.
Will the release of the film be delayed?
Producer Amit Jani said that his team is ready to agree with the government's decision. He further said, 'We have also added cuts as per the suggestions suggested earlier. We had faith in the government, and we had no problem. They are the ones raising the issues. When the producer was asked if the release of 'Udaipur Files' would be delayed, he revealed that the original plan for the film's theatrical release had been set for August 8, 2025. He further said, 'If the government allows us to go ahead, it will release on August 8'.
'Closed door' meeting with Information and Broadcasting Minister
Amit Jani informed that he had a 'closed door' meeting with the Information and Broadcasting Minister. He also informed that the discussion was held based on Section 6 of the Cinematograph Act, 1952. The producer said that he shared the government's views on the matter, and we have given our response. According to the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Section 6 empowers the government to cancel the certification of a film by the Censor Board and suspend its exhibition.
