The blast near the Red Fort last night has shaken all of Delhi. Union Home Minister Amit Shah has called a high-level meeting at his residence to review the matter. The meeting began at 11 am today. All senior officials were instructed to attend.

Union Home Secretary Govind Mohan, the Director of the Intelligence Bureau (IB), the Delhi Police Commissioner, and the Director General of the National Investigation Agency (NIA), among others, are present at the meeting. Home Minister Amit Shah is chairing the meeting. The DGP of Jammu and Kashmir is participating virtually.

Terrorist Attack Suspected

A terrorist conspiracy is suspected behind the blast near the Red Fort. Delhi Police have registered a case under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) and detained four suspects. Police are questioning all of them. However, no formal statement has yet been released regarding the actual motive behind the attack.

9 killed, 20 injured

Nine people were killed and 20 seriously injured in an explosion near Gate No. 1 of the Red Fort Metro Station. The blast was so powerful that the glass outside the metro station shattered, and several vehicles and people nearby were also affected.

Delhi is shaken after 14 years.

This is the first explosion in Delhi in 14 years since the 2011 blast near the High Court gate. The blast occurred in a Hyundai i20 car from Haryana, and the sound of the explosion was heard several kilometers away. Car parts were scattered up to 250 meters away. Given the intensity of the blast, speculation is rife that this may not have been a minor explosion, but an RDX blast.
