9 killed, 20 injured
Nine people were killed and 20 seriously injured in an explosion near Gate No. 1 of the Red Fort Metro Station. The blast was so powerful that the glass outside the metro station shattered, and several vehicles and people nearby were also affected.
Delhi is shaken after 14 years.
This is the first explosion in Delhi in 14 years since the 2011 blast near the High Court gate. The blast occurred in a Hyundai i20 car from Haryana, and the sound of the explosion was heard several kilometers away. Car parts were scattered up to 250 meters away. Given the intensity of the blast, speculation is rife that this may not have been a minor explosion, but an RDX blast.
