UGC: From the upcoming session, the study of cyber security in UG and PG is mandatory, draft shared with states and universities

In the academic session 2022-23, students of undergraduate and postgraduate programs in universities and higher education institutions will also study cyber security. The undergraduate program will teach basic and mid-level cyber security courses, which will consist of four credits, while the postgraduate program will offer mid- and advanced-level courses, which will carry four credits.

 

 

Its purpose is to make students aware of cyber fraud and to give technical knowledge in the era of digital education. Apart from this, there is a need to prepare experts in the field of cyber security. In this, the legal, social, economic aspects of cyber security will also be made aware.

 

 

The University Grants Commission (UGC) has prepared its draft and shared it with the states and universities. Apart from this, a booklet showing general guidelines on digital hygiene in higher educational institutions has also been prepared.

 

It is written that because of the revolution in information technology and the increasing demand for security-related matters, the need for cyber security is being felt. The rapid advancement in information technology has raised very complex questions.

 

A suitable solution to them is needed today. The curriculum prepared by high-level subject experts is based on these issues related to cyber security at present. Technology, its process, and common people have been kept at the center in its preparation.

The UG program will get four credits based on lectures, tutorials, practical practice. In this, general knowledge of cyber security, cybercrime and law, social media and security, e-commerce and digital payments, digital tools and techniques in cyber security, etc. will be taught. At the same time, in the postgraduate program, cyber security management, data privacy, and data security, cyber law and crime, etc. will be taught.

UGC President said that he will write a letter to the Education Ministers for CUET

 

University Grants Commission (UGC) chairman Jagdish Kumar said he will write a letter to the education ministers of all the states for admissions at the undergraduate level through the Common University Entrance Exam (CUET). He said, after talking to the vice-chancellors of 25 universities in Gujarat, he will now meet the vice-chancellors of other state-funded universities. He will talk to the Education Ministers and Vice-Chancellors of the respective states for admission to the state universities with the qualification of CUET. so that they enroll in graduate programs through an admissions entrance test in the interest of the student. UGC NET, JRF valid for one year

 

The University Grants Commission has given a big relief to the UGC NET-JRF. JRF has been validated for four years instead of three years due to the closure of educational institutions due to the Corona epidemic. The candidates whose deadline was expiring in March 2020 will also get the benefit. UGC President Prof. M Jagadesh Kumar said that due to the closure of educational institutions, UGC NET-JRF candidates have faced difficulties in admission. Keeping this in mind, UGC NET-JRF candidates are being given validity of up to four instead of three. Apart from this, the National Fellowship (SC, ST, OBC) has also been made four years instead of three years.
