Ukraine crisis case reaches Supreme Court: Chief Justice said - can we ask Putin for a ceasefire?

The Russian army is wreaking havoc in Ukraine in a dangerous way. In such a situation, there has been increased concern about the safety of citizens of other countries trapped there. Now, this matter is being taken seriously in India also. Expressing concern over the same issue, a lawyer has raised the issue of Indian students stranded in Ukraine in the Supreme Court and demanded the evacuation of Indian students at the earliest. While responding to this petition, CJI N V Ramana said that we have sympathy for the students but the court cannot do anything in this. The Supreme Court said that we cannot order Putin to stop the war. It is not in our jurisdiction. The government is taking the necessary steps. We will ask the Attorney-General what more can be done in this matter?

The counsel for the petitioner told me that the petitioner is a medical student in Ukraine. Where 250 students are trapped. They are not being evacuated from the Romania border. They are stuck on the Ukraine border and are not being allowed to enter Romania. In response, Attorney General KK Venugopal said that PM Modi has spoken to Russian President Putin. A minister has also been sent to Romania. The government is doing everything. These students will also be removed as soon as possible.

 

 

Supreme Court asked the government to take concrete steps

 

The Supreme Court asked the Attorney General to take some concrete steps to rescue the students trapped in Romania. Along with this, the Supreme Court sent the Special Envoy along with a copy of the petition to the Attorney General's office.

 

3726 Indians will be brought back to India today

 

Meanwhile, Jyotiraditya M. Scindia, Union Civil Aviation Minister in the Government of India, informed the media that 3726 Indians will be brought back to India from Bucharest, the capital of Romania, under Operation Ganga. To bring all these back 8 flights will be operated from Bucharest, 2 from Suceava, 1 from Kosice, 5 from Budapest, and 3 from Rézo.
